COME TO OUR LAUNCH PARTY
Jack Scribner, one of the photographers included in the last issue, will be curating the selections and theme of this issue. Jack is a musician and photographer currently based in Reno, NV. Raised in Chicago, IL. He had spent his formative years back and forth from Reno to Chicago, building and broadening his curiosity for the arts with each new experience in music and photographic exploration.
Jack's theme for this Call of Submission is: Altered Humans
We are asking submissions to contain the specific subject matter of “human” whether this is a very literal representation or contains the evidence of the human condition. We want to see your perceptions of the human experience. What do you notice? Do they notice you? What is the interaction between you and the subject? Are they aware of the photograph being made? Are they blind to it? The term, Altered, can refer to many components, including but not limited to: using expired film, making a multiple exposure in camera, light leaks, physically altering the surface of the film before scanning, colored lights, motion blur, etc. The intention is to create a photograph based on the prompt or elicit the choice of an existing photograph of yours that sits outside the bounds of what a ‘human’ portrait can be. In an effort not to limit your response to the theme, please spend some time with the term, ‘Altered Humans’ to understand what it means to you, and follow your instinct and creativity for the completion of your photograph/s for this submission. All submissions will be carefully viewed, so please take the theme into consideration when selecting what you will submit.
